Poisson process: estimate required experiment duration

With our online post-processing tool for the testing period of a Poisson process, you can quantify for how long you need to observe a Poisson process to ensure that its rate is smaller than a specified threshold. You only need to specify the target (failure) rate λ that should be demonstrated by observing the process on an interval of length t.

With this information, the interval length t that must be observed in order to demonstrate that the actual rate λ of the Poission process is below the specified target rate can be formally quantified through Bayesian statistics as a function of the credibility level and the number of events that will be observed within t.
